Our SDL Web 8.5 website, with CIL + Context Engine, works fine until we log into our website, at which point we receive the error below.

I believe this is because when we log in we add items to our Java spring session. From my investigation it appears that the Ambient Client Filter is adding the session items to the Claim Store before it then tries to serialise it, causing the error below.

Is there any way to stop the Claim Store processing our additional session items?

There's a method in com.tridion.ambientdata.web.AbstractAmbientDataServletFilter class from web-ambient-client-*.jar that takes the users session attributes and adds them to the claim store.

One of our session attributes has a property of java.text.DecimalFormat which extends java.text.NumberFormat, which in turn has a variable maximumIntegerDigits. When the ADF filter tries to serialize our session attribute class it finds two fields with the same name "maximumIntegerDigits".

The fix is to either:

(a) Modify your code as to not contain a property of type DecimalFormat

(b) Write your own CustomAmbientClientFilter that inherits SDL's com.sdl.web.ambient.client.AmbientClientFilter and override the performADFAction method to remove your custom session attributes before it's serialised.
